Cruising the Caribbean

Beccy Miller

As the temperature dips and we get our winter coats out, let's look to cruising destinations guaranteed to provide us with some sunshine. Enter the Caribbean, the 3rd most popular destination for us Brits, after the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. Come with us and discover why...

Beach Hopping

With countless pristine beaches it should come as no surprise that beach hopping is the quintessential Caribbean experience. Whether you're looking for unspoilt beauty or energetic coasts, the Caribbean has the spot for you. Don't miss iconic beaches like Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos, Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, or Eagle Beach in Aruba.

Discover the Rich History and Culture

Each island offers a unique experience. Learn about the struggles and achievements of the indigenous peoples, the impact of colonisation, and the region's diverse heritage. Visit poignant historical sites like the slave plantations in Barbados, explore the colonial forts in San Juan, Puerto Rico, or delve into the fascinating history of the Mayan civilization on Mexico's Caribbean coast. This will allow you to gain a deeper appreciation for the Caribbean's multifaceted cultural and historical legacy.

Go Snorkelling or Scuba Diving

The Caribbean is known for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life. Snorkelling and scuba diving allow you to explore colourful coral reefs, shipwrecks, and encounter an array of fish, turtles, and other sea creatures. Some of the best spots for diving and snorkelling include the Blue Hole in Belize, Bonaire's coral reefs, and the underwater sculptures in Grenada

Go on a Hike

The Caribbean is home to lush rainforests and stunning natural landscapes. Hiking through these tropical forests is a fantastic way to connect with nature and discover the region's diverse flora and fauna. You can explore the El Yunque Rainforest in Puerto Rico, the Dominica rainforest for its "Valley of Desolation," or the trails in Grenada's Grand Etang National Park.

Retail Therapy

Many Caribbean islands have craft markets where local artisans sell their handmade goods.  You can purchase items like woven baskets, wooden carvings, ceramics, and hand-painted textiles that reflect the local culture. Or, if designer goods are your thing, take advantage of the duty-free shopping on islands like Grand Cayman or St. Thomas.
